Much like the Notes App apologies of yore, it's become a bit of a trend: A (usually brunette) man from a Bravo show dumps his (usually blonde) girlfriend unceremoniously, everyone rallies behind the woman and makes the man regret the day he was born, then the woman posts a picture of herself on Instagram in a hot outfit. A Revenge Fit, if you will.
Lest we forget the dress seen around the world--the Revenge Fit post that arguably sets the standard for all Revenge Fit posts--of Ariana Madix.
That little red dress was worn to the Vanderpump Rules reunion, where Madix confronted her brunette Bravo man. It's easy to interpret the potential for revenge in such a garment. I mean, look at her abs. Terrifying.
But, actually, that wasn't Madix's original Revenge Fit post. If we're thinking of these as the first picture the dumpee posts of themselves post-dumping, this was her's:
"Hi. Where to begin?" Starts the caption and, famously, "What doesn't kill me better run," it ends. The dress in this one is less vengeful and more fairy godmother, which I actually think is a much more diabolical way to enact revenge. Instead of "Look what you're missing" it's giving "Who, me?"
The latest Bravo Blonde following in Madix's footsteps is Lindsay Hubbard, who was engaged to Bravo Brunette Carl Radke until August 31st when they called off their wedding and ended their relationship. Hubbard has since stated that she was just as shocked by the news as the rest of us and that it was entirely Radke's doing.
Now she's in the Bahamas on what would have been her Bachelorette trip (planned by BachBoss, Avery Singer's company). News of the trip initially broke when Hubbard posted an out-the-plane-window shot on her stories with the caption, "When they go low..you go high." It was then that I knew we were in for a Revenge Fit post for the ages.
Unlike Madix, Hubbard had already posted a written statement about her feelings, so no long caption was needed under the Revenge Fit. Instead, she opted for the sweet and simple approach, writing, "No comment."
The outfit is a sparkly white, somewhat sheer jumpsuit that was clearly intended to be bridal. Hubbard is seen posing seriously in one photo and then joyously in another, hands on her hips, laughing like it's just another weekend in the Bahamas.
I've never been a big fan of Hubbard, but I'm a huge fan of revenge, and she wears it well. Hers and her friends' stories were a treasure trove of vindictive delight all weekend long, with revenge outfits galore.
I'm left with one question: Who will be the next Bravo Blonde to be dumped, and what will they wear?
