Like those pesky Baldwins and the Sheen/Esteves clan, there’s another quite famous Hollywood family with more actors than you may realize. In the news this morning, a lesser-known son beat out his father’s in competition at the Whistler Film Festival.
There’s something very familiar about him, isn’t there?
Could he be a Brolin? I’m seeing a little bit of Josh around the edges.
He seems a little too old to be related to Billy Zane, no? But there’s something Zane-y going on.
A Hutton? Is he a Hutton?
Nah. The actor whose 2015 film River just won Best Canadian Feature over Forsaken, which stars his father and half-brother…
is a Sutherland. Rossif Sutherland (Reign, Hyena Road), to be specific.
River, the first North American film shot in Laos, is a thriller that follows Sutherland’s volunteer physician who intervenes in a sexual assault. The film also won best screenplay and best Borsos director (interestingly, that award is named after Phillip Dorsos, who directed Donald Sutherland in Bethune: The Making of a Hero).
Donald is also father to Rachel, Angus and Roeg Sutherland.
