It’s Monday, so you know what that means…. Yes, friends, it’s time for me to spend the afternoon in quiet contemplation, drinking as much Mello Yello as I can stomach so that I can connect with the spirit realm in order to suss what is going on with Meghan Markle right now, although Serena Williams may have just made that much easier for me.
Serena was recently interviewed by E! News, but since I only acknowledge one legitimate news source in the world, we’re going to get the scoop via People.
Anyway, Serena had this to say:
When asked about advice she had for fellow parents, the tennis star told E! News, “Accept mistakes and don’t expect to be perfect. We put so much pressure on ourselves.”She then added, “My friend is pregnant, and she was like, ‘My kid’s gonna do this,’ [and] I just looked at her like, ‘No, she’s not. No, you’re not. She was like, ‘I need to talk to you about tips,’ because, yes, I had all of those high expectations.”
Now, obviously if you’re paying attention you’re already picking up what is being laid down, but if you’d like me to spell it out to you in order for me to reach the word count minimum I’ve set myself for this post, I’ll happily do it.
See, Serena was talking about her pregnant friend and let it slip that said friend would be having a girl.
Now, put on your detective hat, friends, because we’re about to take the expressway to truth town, here.
Serena Williams is friends with Meghan Markle. Does that mean that her pregnant friend in the above anecdote is Meghan, and thus Meghan is having a girl?
Look, I’m going to lay it down on the line for you. I am a woman in her 30s. The number of people I would call friends and speak candidly about, authoritatively, number about 4. It’s just something that happens as you get older—your friend group shrinks. Serena and Meghan are both in their 30s. I can’t imagine they have a lot more friends than I do, because I don’t think either of them has the entire girl part of “Top That,” the rap from Teen Witch, memorized, and thus are less attractive to potential friends than I am. So it’s not out of the question that Serena let it slip that Meghan is having a girl, because Meghan is a known pregnant friend of Serena’s.
Also, I’m going to be honest here: I want Meghan to have a girl because Charlotte needs a cool lady cousin to balance out George and Louis. That is my truth, but we won’t have to wait too much longer to see if Serena let the cat out of the bag, or if she was talking about someone else. Meghan is expected to give birth this month.
