I’ve been watching my Twitter feed for the past hour or so watching the #metgala posts roll in as the rich and famous showed up in their best interpretations on the theme: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. There were a few outstanding looks early on, like this sumptuous gold latex number worn by a model named Jasmine Sanders whose nickname is “Golden Barbie”.

Lynda Carter was also an early stunner, looking like a literal green Goddess.

Jonah Hill showed up in a regular old suit for some reason. Men, as Melania Trump might urge, please, Be Bester.

As I was waiting for Rihanna, the Queen of the Met Gala, to arrive and start snatching wigs, something extraordinary happened!

For those not up on today’s minor R&B/Pop players, Jason’s been around for a minute with a couple of minor hits and has had guest stints on American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With The Stars. But to my knowledge, this is the first time he’s been on Break Dancing With The Stars.

I grew alarmed as I kept seeing more and more posts about Jason’s unfortunate accident.

Pretty soon, I started getting suspicious after I couldn’t find any video of this or secondary confirmation. And then the penny dropped.

Guys, it turns out Jason wasn’t even AT the Met Gala. He was in LA rehearsing. It also turns out that this is not the first time somebody has posted this picture and claimed it was Jason Derulo taking a header. This has been happening every year since AT LEAST 2015!

The picture is actually from the 2011 Cannes International Film festival. And the man perpetually stuck in The Upside Down remains a mystery TO THIS DAY! And what Jason did to deserve becoming the target of this prank, we will also never know. Twitter may be a flaming dumpster fire of misplaced anger, passive-aggressive snark, and lying politicians - most days, but some days, it’s just fucking delightful.

Oh, and yes, the Queen did arrive, fashionably late and standing firmly upright.

All hail The Even Younger Pope!
