David Lynch Drinks Ten to Twenty Cups of Coffee a Day, Suddenly David Lynch Makes a Little More Sense

Trying to picture what a typical day looks like for David Lynch’s is maybe the hardest thing I’ve ever made myself do. What do we think that looks like, really? I honestly can take about 15 seconds of imagining him petting his collection of wigs made from he manes of unicorns, or maybe staring into space like a powered-down robot (hey, I’m open to other theories) before my brain shuts off entirely.

Well, Lynch has offered us a tiny window into his daily routine in an interview he gave to Vice’s food arm, Munchies. Because I guess David Lynch and I disagree over whether talking to an outlet named after a Doritos-based snack is beneath him. The interviewer asked him if it was true that he drinks 20 cups of coffee a day.

Well, I think I would say ten. It’s true I used to drink twenty. But they were smaller and in Styrofoam cups. Now I drink them in bigger cups.

He says the trick is to stop drinking at 5:30 pm.
