Before we get started, can we just acknowledge the gorgeous perfection of Dave Grohl’s version of The Beatles’ Blackbird, playing over the Oscars’ In Memoriam segment? Of all the far-too-often tributes we’ve been seeing lately, his stands out as striking just the right tone — somber, quiet, beautiful…honoring.
Not unlike how they’ve handled this big announcement. Brace yourselves…
