Chris Rock has been on a tour of truth over the past few weeks, and the most recent subject of nod-worthy knowledge bombs is one Ben Roethlisberger, multiple-occasion accused rapist and quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Roethlisberger has been accused of rape twice—once in 2008 and once in 2010. In 2008, the prosecutor didn’t pursue criminal action, and in 2010, those involved opted to dismiss the case. So, he’s doing just fine. They usually do.
What this does is serve as a necessary reminder: there’s a lot of monsters out there. Cosby is just one of them. How many male celebrities have assaulted women over the years? Probably a lot, and a lot of them, we know about! They were forgiven, they got to go on and be super successful. Sean Penn tied Madonna to a chair and beat her for hours. David O. Russell groped his teenage niece. Mickey Rourke was an abusive stalker. Everyone’s doing fine. They’re always fine.
Oh, and speaking of the original original Cosby, you know, Cosby, supermodel Beverly Johnson has come forward with her own story of Bill Cosby drugging and raping her. She says there are many others—many who haven’t yet come forward. Jesus.
I hate everything.
