If you know Rami Malek (AND YOU DO, RIGHT?) you probably know him from the dark, mildly disturbing Mr. Robot. Or possibly from the differently dark and still somehow criminally underseen Short Term 12. But today, in honor of Malek’s 35th birthday, let’s take a look at his adorable baby face in all the places it was seen before we knew what we were looking at. Just look at this beautiful baby face:

That’s from his first-ever film/TV gig on Gilmore Girls, where he, as a member of Lane’s Bible study group, has a minor obsession with one Pastor Eric. (Check out the full clip here.)

Soon after, he starred as Kenny on a sitcom called The War at Home, which I’d honestly never heard of, but the internet tells me was basically terrible except for Kenny’s coming out storyline, which earned a GLAAD award.

He also has a song and dance number, so maybe the show wasn’t totally terrible.

The Egyptian-American Malek played an Egyptian pharaoh named Ahkmenrah in Night at the Museum 2, which is maybe a kind of cool thing?

But also maybe really, really not.

He had a sad baby face in 24.

And a rebellious baby face in The Pacific.

Where he made an impression on Tom Hanks, who put him in Larry Crowne, where he got to make this excited baby face:

His specialty seems always to have been playing characters whose faces haven’t grown into their eyes yet. See: giant eyeball acting in this Twilight thing:

And in The Master:

Not that that’s really changed, I guess.

Happy birthday, Rami Malek. Good to know you’ve always been fsociety-level awesome.
