Cardi B fans know that she’s a huge history nerd. She’s especially interested in World War Two history and the presidency of FDR. When she appeared on Hot Ones, she shared her fascination with the Roosevelts and why she geeked out visiting some of the places they spent time. She shares a birthday with Eleanor and admits that she loves to just learn everything she can about the past. Learning is cool, kids. What’s also cool is meeting your heroes, albeit by proxy.
As Cardi wraps up her Little Miss Drama tour, she had an unexpected visitor at one of her meet & greets: Amy Carter, daughter of President Jimmy Carter. She brought the singer a signed copy of Carter’s book, White House Diary, and Ms. B could not have been more delighted with her gift.
Honestly, this is so effing sweet. It’s obviously a real fangirl moment for Cardi, whose total lack of chill is one of the things we love about her so much. And her passion for history is so real. I feel like her and Amy Carter would have a lot to talk about as women who have been through hell in the spotlight. Seriously, the way Amy was treated when she was a literal child in the White House was nasty as hell.
I will not rest until I see Robert Caro gift some signed copies of his Lyndon Johnson biographies to Cardi. Let’s expand her Presidential library!
