This last week, Burger King began running an ad in which a guy ran up to people on the street, told them about Burger King products, and yelled at them. The whole thing basically ripped off Billy Eichner’s man-on-the-street schtick, and last night, when Eichner found out, he went ballistic on Twitter.
Hey @BurgerKing-thanks for stealing my act for ur new commercial!! Except its not as funny & everyone knows u stole it. GET YOUR OWN IDEAS.
— billy eichner (@billyeichner) October 13, 2014
Oh and @BurgerKing once you're done stealing my comedy please stop making people morbidly obese!!! Thanks so much!!!
— billy eichner (@billyeichner) October 13, 2014
Please tweet @BurgerKing & tell them to stop stealing from #BillyOntheStreet. Then I'm going over there & I'm gonna FLAME BROIL HIS DICK.
— billy eichner (@billyeichner) October 13, 2014
And one more thing - I INVENTED HAMBURGERS!!!

So far 14 people have died in the Billy on the Street vs Burger King War of 2014! This must end soon!!!
— billy eichner (@billyeichner) October 13, 2014
One thing Burger King is learning at least is that you do NOT fuck with Billy on the Street fans. OUR VOICES WILL BE HEARD!!!
— billy eichner (@billyeichner) October 13, 2014
After that, tons of Billy Eichner fans on Twitter came to bat for him, ripping Burger King in new and hilarious ways.
@BurgerKing we all know @billyeichner and your imposter was no billy eichner! Get off my tv with that knockoff.

Then, the celebrities starting weighing on on behalf of Eichner.
Dear @burgerking, if @billyeichner stalked ppl in the street in a giant weird plastic head & royal robes selling his meat,YOU'd be SO PISSED
— Adam Shankman (@adammshankman) October 13, 2014
Yo @BurgerKing, stop stealing from the hilarious @billyeichner and stick to what you're good at: giving me diarrhea.
— Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) October 13, 2014
“@billyeichner: Thank You @BuzzFeed!!! http://t.co/G9ibHKbeIi” they already ripped off McDonald's- what do you expect? Thieves!
— Judd Apatow (@JuddApatow) October 13, 2014

And this is why you can’t get away with sh*t like this in the digital age. Complaints will go viral. Dollars to donuts, Burger King pulls those ads by day’s end.
Here’s the ad in question, by the way.
