Billie Eilish was almost pulled to the ground during a concert in Miami on Thursday night. Various videos from the night at the Kaseya Center in Miami show Eilish walking by a barrier separating herself from concertgoers and high-fiving them, as one loser grabbed her so forcefully that she tripped.

Her security quickly stepped in and dealt with the situation. The Miami Police Department told Entertainment Weekly, “The person was ejected from the Kaseya Center. That was all.” Eilish was apparently unhurt and has not made any public comments on the incident.

I really feel like we shouldn’t even have to tell people not to do crap like this, but alas, we live in brainrot times. The past few years, certainly post-lockdown, have seen a weird increase in incidents of indecency, injury, and harassment at concerts, towards performers and from their own fans. A man threw a phone at Bebe Rexha, hitting her in the face and causing major bruising. When asked why he did it, he reportedly said he thought it’d be funny. A man leaped onto the stage during an Ava Max gig and slapped her face. Harry Styles and Kelsea Ballerini have been forced to dodge projectiles flung their way from the crowds. And this doesn’t even get into the plague of hecklers and inappropriate catcallings some singers have faced. Poor Mitski. Her own fans suck.

I have to wonder what the hell this person who grabbed Billie thought was going to happen. Did they think that their idol, who has been candid about her discomfort with fame and wanting to maintain a healthy distance between herself and her celebrity, would be into it? Were they expecting her to say, “I’ve always wanted someone to aggressively pull me to the ground while I’m trying to do my job”? Personally, I think they just wanted the attention, and they’ve decided that even committing a potential assault is an acceptable way to get it. Learn some manners and keep your hands to yourself, weirdo.
