Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been in a major upswing since the end of last season, and they’ve gotten even upswingier with the addition of Bobbi Morse (AKA Mockingbird) played by Adrianne Palicki (AKA Tyra 4Eva). Morse is a badass agent who knows how to twirl the sh*t out of some batons.
Palicki seems to be as excited about her character as the audience is.
You see Bobbi kind of expand with the team, and you get a sense of who she’s known in the past and the relationships she’s building. You start to peel back the layers of Bobbi, what her relationship was with Hunter. That definitely goes more in depth in the future. It’s a fun ride.
Bobbi’s relationship with her ex is an awesome addition to the show, and an important piece of her character. It allows her to be more than just a stone cold assassin (a la Black Widow), and allows for moments like these:
And while her romantic life is an important component of her character, it doesn’t overshadow the rest of her.
I think in the industry they’re in, what they do for work, it’s probably a very hard world being in a relationship, especially when she’s using her sexuality to be undercover and to do all these things. That’s a hard thing, especially for a guy like Hunter, who might not be the most secure person. It’s funny, because it definitely comes to light why they ended their relationship. At the same time, there’s still a lot of love there, and there’s still a lot of chemistry. … It’s going to be a slow burn. I think each episode you’re going to get a little taste.
And Hunter isn’t Mockingbird’s only romantic tie in the Marvel Universe. The character has a long, fiery history with Hawkeye. The eloping-splitting-reconciling-resplitting kind of fiery.
The interesting thing is her relationship with Hawkeye did happen. It’s a big part of the character. I’m interested to see if that ever comes up or is brought to light or is mentioned in the future. Here’s the kicker, when told that Jeremy Renner has expressed interest in guest starring on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., she’s totally for it.
That would be awesome. … She gets divorced a lot.Because when a producer asks you if you want to have a love scene with Jeremy Renner, you say yes because you are a person with eyeballs and bathing suit parts.
