63-Year-Old Hugh Grant Jokes That He's 'Too Old' For His 5 Young Children

Hugh Grant is a sarcastic old grump who’s very much over the smiley Hollywood PR game. Just last week, he called playing the Oompa Loompa in Wonka “drivel”: “I couldn’t have hated the whole thing more.” He also admitted he “slightly” hates making films, “but I have lots of children and need the money.”

Turns out, Hugh Grant does have a lot of kids. Five in total! He shares Tabitha, 12, and Felix, nearly 11, with his ex, 44-year-old Tinglan Hong. Hugh also has three children with his 41-year-old wife, Anna Eberstein: John, 11, a daughter, 8, and another daughter, 5 (we don’t know their names).

Now, if you’re looking at that timeline and thinking, “Waaait a sec”, you’re not alone. John was born three months before his half-brother, Felix, which means Tinglan and Anna were pregnant at the same thing. Huh. Did the women know Hugh was involved with both of them? Was there an arrangement? An affair? Only that horny ol’ love rat Hugh knows for sure!

This week, Hugh’s Wonka press tour continued, and he sat down for an interview with PEOPLE. When asked how he spends his downtime, Hugh joked, “Well, I live here and I have no fun at all. I’m swamped in children, and I’m too old for them.”

63 is pretty old to have five kids under 12. I mean, it’s not like he’s got a newborn in his eighties, like Robert De Niro or Al Pacino, but… still. It’s up there. His back has gotta hurt.

Hugh is still close with his ex, Elizabeth Hurley, and, back in 2018, she went on Watch What Happens Live and talked about his five kids. “He was over 50 when he spawned them all,” she informed host Andy Cohen. Elizabeth went on to describe Hugh as an “enchanting dad”, and joked that “having these kids has transformed him from a very miserable person into a…” That’s when Andy cut in: “To fairly miserable.” Elizabeth agreed, adding, “But it’s an improvement. He’s gone up the scale!” Here’s the clip:

Interestingly enough, PEOPLE has repeatedly listed young Felix’s age as 9 in multiple articles. Except, he’s 10, and he’ll be 11 years old at the end of the month, just like his half-brother John. Is this an innocent mistake? Or is PEOPLE, the celebrity-pleasing-PR-machine, trying to trick the general public into forgetting Hugh got Tinglan and Anna pregnant at the same time? Nice try. I’ll never forget. Not ever.*

*Actually, I DID learn this fact a few years ago, but totally forgot about it until today. This time around, though, I’m dead serious about remembering.
