The ad campaign for the third season of “American Horror Story” has been predictably amazing. You can revisit all the ooky, creepy teasers in this convenient round-up. But this is our first look at our characters and it will send ice water right down your spine. Joining the main trio of Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett are “American Horror Story” perennials Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Taissa Farmiga. I cannot wait.

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

You mean, there's no Joseph Fiennes in 'Coven'? I didn't see his name. Bummer. He was such a sexy Monsignor.

  • Larai Lara

The power of the header pic alone made everything i ate or drank today immediately vacate my body. Thank you for leaving me in the fetal position. I will never leave the house for fear that they will find me....

  • e jerry powell

We've gone this long, and still no one's even mentioned "Six Feet Under." Amazing.

I mean, come on. Frances Conroy is up in this bitch with Kathy Bates. They could even have dragged Patricia Clarkson or Lauren Ambrose along...

Also, sneaky trailer editing. The black legs in the opening tracking shot are not Gabourey Sidibe's, but the body in the later shots is. I'd be perplexed if I didn't know any better.

  • apsutter

Oh man...now I'm bummed out that Lauren Ambrose isn't a beautiful witch in this.

  • ZbornakSyndrome

If this show was nearly as well written and atmospheric as it's ads, it would be my favorite show of all time. Sadly, I usually make it 5 episodes in before the random plots and terrible writing make me give up and watch YouTube videos of Jessica Lange's parts.

I mean aliens? Honestly? Can we just have one scary, well-developed element?

  • Slash

Angela Bassett! And Kathy Bates! Fucking awesome. And of course Jessica.

  • apsutter

Seriously, so many awesome women I love it!!!

  • TheOriginalMRod

YAY! Just in time for the holidays! It's the most wonderful time of the year.

  • WhoDeyKY

Precisely. Putting the fun in dysfunctional and getting us through those awkward family gatherings one episode at a time.

  • BlackRabbit

I like the Circe reference with the bull-man (at least I think that's what they're doing). Might be a maze metaphor.

  • dizzylucy

I watched season 1 - started off great, but ended poorly (classic Ryan Murphy), so I haven't watched anymore. However, I am intrigued by this commercial, and may just give it a shot. The setting reminds me of that Anne Rice Witching Hour book.

  • e jerry powell

I could never really get into the Mayfair witches at all. Once Rice started making errors in the Julian timeline (not unline Stephen King's timeline problems in Carrie, it yanked me right out of the whole thing. I gave up on Rice altogether after either Pandora or Armand (I can't remember which I read first, but they both came out in 1998, so there's not much difference).

  • Maguita NYC

Gave me the same vibe as well! Those books freaked me out... Except for Taltos. That was shitty and disappointing.

I remember reading the Witching Hour and started getting chills when the man first appeared on the porch near Rowan's mother (I can't remember her name). And this trailer has the same feel to it somehow, maybe because of The Animals' remake of House of The Rising Sun.

  • dizzylucy

Yeah, I loved the Witching Hour, but the following books were pretty disappointing, from what I remember. It's been so long since I've read them.
That song is definitely doing the heavy lifting for the commercial.

  • Maguita NYC

Lasher was good too. However, I must admit I read those when I was 16, a more impressionable age.

I tried going through some old Anne Rice this past summer and could not stomach the drab and melancholy. But I'm hoping the new AHS- Coven would bring back those dark-yet-exciting feelings when reading about New Orleans, and my fascination with witches!

  • dizzylucy

Yeah, I think I was around 17-18, beginning of college, when I read them. I imagine I would roll my eyes a lot at them now.

  • Return of santitas

Can a newbie just jump into this show at season 3, since it seems to reboot itself every season? Because I am loving these teasers, but haven't watched before.

  • Robert

Shoot, you could jump in halfway through a season and it wouldn't make a big difference. It's random wtf horror with slight overarching narratives and themes.

  • Return of Santitas

Haha, great, thanks guys. I look forward to the wtf-ness of it all.

  • stella

If you do want to watch the previous season, at least the first one is on netflix.

  • Uriah_Creep

Yeah, you'll be fine going in cold. Check it out.

  • ZizoAH

Ok, this is definitely the show I'm looking forward most to. It looks fucking amazing!

  • Maguita NYC

    Zizo! Been a while!

  • ZizoAH

    Thanks for noticing!
The truth is I come here everyday religiously, but unfortunately I almost have nothing to add when I want to comment, because almost everybody did it before me!

  • Maguita NYC

Add it still! We could never have enough repeat of good snark. Hope you are doing okay with all the happenings right now.

  • ZizoAH

    Thank you, again.

Everything is fine here in Israel, I think it will probably still that way (I didn't even go to get my "protective kit", that's how much I think that nothing will happen here).

Not so fine with my grandmother (and uncle, cousins) who ""live"" (don't have much of a home anymore) in Damascus. The everyday is turning hellish (specially for my mother, who is expecting the worst all the time, watching AlJazeera 24/7).

  • ZizoAH

I'm sorry for the off-topic, probably more relevant in the Jon Stewart post.

  • Maguita NYC

I know words could never convey the proper sentiment in situations like these, but I do truly wish your family some peace of mind, and for everyone to be safe and healthy.

  • Even Stevens

All the weird floating people in their promos freak me out (in the good way)

  • RilesSD

    FUCK
    YES
    !!!

  • thewatcher

i really want this season to be good. i just couldn't get into the 2nd season.

  • LucyKlein

I would have been fine with just the Asylum/devil story line or just the serial killer/aslyum story. But.... power crazed nuns, former Nazis doctors, devil possession, and aliens (for no reason) were way to much. It was different shaped puzzle pieces being smashed into a picture.

I'm not a fan of randomly adding science fiction to fantasy/horror.

  • "This video is not available in your country."

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME WITH THIS SHIT IT'S AN AD!

  • Guest

The FX website (WEBSITE!), not to mention Archer, isn't even available in Canada. That is SHIT.

"Thank you for your interest in FX Networks. This site is currently only available to viewers living in the United States."

returning cast member jamie brewer is also seen.

  • lowercase_ryan
