Jon Stewart's Return To "The Daily Show" Was Miley Cyrus-tastic

After a long summer away, Jon Stewart returned to “The Daily Show” and his endearingly doofy re-introduction included, among other things, a pretty spot-on Miley Cyrus.

Of course, I’m biased, having loved John Oliver’s guest-hosting work this summer, but my favorite moment had to be the Carlos Danger dance break. Welcome back, John.

Oliver will get the job full-time next year when Stewart replaces Letterman. I would bet a body part or two on that.

And that will be as it should be.

Stewart from MTV to Comedy Central to CBS. A natural Sumner Redstone progression.

Was that a lightsaber I heard?

The Carlos Danger dance will never get old.

I'm hoping that John Oliver is brought in to report all Anthony Wiener developments. Stewart's isn't the same.

Seriously, I want Oliver back. I've defected to his side. Jon Stewart should go get a pundit-y show on MSNBC or something at this point.

    Crossfire is back...

I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't some changes in the next year. That said, Jon looked really happy to be back.

    Heineken is Dutch. Just saying.

  • BWeaves

    You say Dutch.
    I say Deutsch.
Let's call the whole thing off.

  • emmalita

And he would have looked adorable in a little Dutch boy outfit, so inaccurate and a missed opportunity.

Given that Jon Stewart is best friends with Wiener, I wonder if Stewart is glad he was away when Carlos Danger made his appearance.

  • JJ

Not a chance of that being the case. Were you watching when Weiner's first scandal popped up? Stewart was riffing on it for weeks and flashing pictures of it all the time.

  • BWeaves

Not at first he wasn't. At first Stewart kept trying to give Weiner the benefit of the doubt and hoping against hope that it wasn't Weiner and that he had somehow been hacked, because he kept saying, we're friends, we went to each other's weddings, I know you're not like this, etc., etc. Then when Weiner finally admitted it, Stewart took his kid gloves off and put on the punching gloves.

Even though Carlos Danger makes great comedy, it still has to be awkward to do it to a friend (former friend?).

I don't know, one of the greatest moments in the Wiener scandal was when Jon Stewart discovered he actually tweeted about having sex while watching The Daily Show.

  • BWeaves

I agree, but that was after he admitted that he really did those tweets.
