Rob Lowe may be the best television actor of the last two decades, but he’s really not very good at the Twitters. A few years ago, he caused a huge kerfuffle when he announced that Peyton Manning was set to retire (he did not retire), and you may recall that he caused a backlash last year after some questionable tweets after the Paris attacks.
Last night, he stuck his foot in it, again. See, Cam Newton — the quarterback of the Carolina Panthers — was fairly non-responsive during his press conference after his team lost the Super Bowl last night, before eventually walking out. He was bummed, as anyone might be after losing the biggest sporting event of the year. Rob Lowe, however, kicked a sad man while he was down.
Wow. What a press conference from Cam Newton. So gracious! So classy! So humble! What an example to kids! Just like Peyton. #dab #SuperBowl

But see, here’s the thing about Rob Lowe. When he criticizes others, he opens himself up to criticism, and god bless the guy, but he’s got a lot of skeletons in his past worthy of criticism.
Lol @ Rob Lowe talking about being an example to kids when he is a statutory rapist https://t.co/6eYj8xdlFa

Ooof. Had to see that one coming. The DirectTV ads were bound to come up, too.

RL: And I'm passive aggressively racist Rob Lowe.
RL: We're actually the same person.

This is the power of Twitter, for better or worse (mostly worse). It really does go from 0 to 100, with no middle ground.
Twitter is amazing.

Rob Lowe: "Bad example."
Twitter: "Here is a screencap of your dick balls deep in a 16-year-old."
Since we are talking about Cam Newton walking off dejected during a press conference, it’s also worth mentioning that Rob Lowe walked away from three series: West Wing, Brothers and Sisters, and Parks and Rec.
Of course, it could’ve been worse. Rob Lowe could’ve Tweeted this.
