In the wake of the total failure of Conan the Barbarian and to honor the passing of Jason Momoa’s film career (RIP), I thought we’d take a minute this morning to look back at all of Momoa’s greatest hair moments.

Finally, here’s one last parting shot.

We hardly knew ye. Thanks for the Memories, Jason.

Don't let the front door hit yah!

Awesome.

Posted by: Lake at August 22, 2011 11:12 AM

Who That??

Posted by: Magiel at August 22, 2011 11:15 AM

Whatever, yo. He'll always be Ronon from Stargate Atlantis to me.

Posted by: Fi at August 22, 2011 11:35 AM

Why didn't he make the eybrow list?

Posted by: greer at August 22, 2011 11:44 AM

Gonna disagree with the R.I.P. I don't think Momoa's career dies with this (he's after all in the next Sylvester Stallone movie).

And Momoa was not one of the problems with Conan. The story? Problem. The 3D? Problem. The CGI? Problem. The directing by Marcus Nispel? Big problem.

Momoa did a fine job as Conan. The movie around him just sucked much.

Posted by: Fredo at August 22, 2011 12:00 PM

i really like looking at his face and his body/butt. I think he has some more movies left in him.

Posted by: NOOOO i like looking at him at August 22, 2011 12:23 PM

After the rape joke at Comic Con and the transphobic remark he made on Conan O'Brien's show, I must admit I'm not very sad at the prospect of seeing a lot less of him.

Posted by: Angeleno Ewok at August 22, 2011 12:32 PM

If shitty movies meant the end of an acting career, we'd all be saying, "Adam Sandler who?"

Unfortunately, doing one crap movie doesn't end a career. If only.

Posted by: Slash at August 22, 2011 12:34 PM

Somebody get this man a hair-tie. For pete's sake!

I would like to see more, but hear less of him. Because I am shallow.

Posted by: Lurkey Turkey at August 22, 2011 12:50 PM

Those gifs right there explain why the sentiment of this article is wrong.

There will always be a market for hot and dumb.

STFU all you who don't think he's hot. We know already. Clearly you have issues.

Posted by: Protoguy at August 22, 2011 12:58 PM

Oh Noes !! The college intelligentsia has decreed another actor the uncoolest of the uncool for not meeting the high quality standard they've come to expect. OH BOO--HOO-HOO-HOO !!

How dare a popcorn movie loosely based on a pulp character not be 2 hours of Sasha Baron Cohen farting or 6 stodgy Brits comparing clothing or some book series read only by fat emo preteens.

The horror !!

Posted by: Mr. Stitch at August 22, 2011 1:21 PM

Mr. Stitch, It's not that he's uncool or whatever, it's that Conan opened fourth at $10m with a $90m budget.

Posted by: Shadowen at August 22, 2011 1:29 PM

After his crack about how great his GoT role is because he gets to rape beautiful women I can't really muster much sadness about his ending career.

Posted by: ArmaAngelus at August 22, 2011 1:33 PM

Career mortality be damned, that ass is immortal.

Posted by: Jerry at August 22, 2011 1:53 PM

Please just...take a shower.

Posted by: klingonfree at August 22, 2011 1:54 PM

Yeah, studio's tend to shy away from people once they've proven that they don't have a box office draw, regardless of how pretty their butts may be. Hell, often times a nice butt is the box office draw.

Posted by: Socrates_Johnson at August 22, 2011 2:01 PM

Thank you baby Jesus for doing something right and stopping this mess before it had a chance to germinate.

Posted by: Jeri at August 22, 2011 2:15 PM

i was going to be all disgusted with his rape joke and then i remembered how Chris Brown still has a career and from the looks of it, doing better than ever.

Posted by: haplo at August 22, 2011 2:54 PM

Well if a single crap movie ruins a career, someone needs to tell Jennifer Aniston. Why she's still getting work is beyond me.

Posted by: JM at August 22, 2011 3:11 PM

One word...Friends.

Posted by: Socrates_Johnson at August 22, 2011 3:17 PM

People keep mentioning actors with bad movies under their belts as a sign that it doesn't matter.

The same people don't seem to stop and realize that the people they mention with bad roles under the belts were in many things that were successful before said bad roles.

Sandler was popular from SNL, and then made money with Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore. Aniston had Friends, Office Space and Leprachaun.

Momoa's got a bit part of Baywatch and this GoT show that is on HBO, which a lot of people don't have.

Biiiig difference.

Posted by: Some Guy at August 22, 2011 4:08 PM

I see so many actors float for decades doing bombs, and supporting characters in low budget films, so why is he any different?

I really don't get it. Most all actors will tell you that the underline is it's money. They can't always do the best projects, but most will tell you it's work, and better than no money.
As long as he is in shape he should have no problems getting gigs.

I sense much jealous in this reviewer's writings.

His favorite films on Rotten Tomatoes gave me pause.

Talk about do as I say, not as I act...

Posted by: George at August 22, 2011 4:40 PM

I was going to see this and Fright Night but the Theater I normally go to only has the 3D versions. I can't believe it.

Posted by: John W at August 22, 2011 5:50 PM

Love the title to the post. As for his ComiCon GoT rape joke: have you read the books? They're nothing but rape, pillage and plunder. And incest.

Posted by: James S at August 22, 2011 5:58 PM

Poor, poor Mmmmmomoa. Come 'ere, Figgy will make ya feel better.

Posted by: figgy at August 22, 2011 6:24 PM

@James S - that doesn't mean you're supposed to ENJOY faux-raping people just because it's in the books.

Posted by: jck at August 22, 2011 7:28 PM

Well, darn. I bought a couple of the GoT books, hadn't go to them yet. Here I was expecting "... a world that is as rich and vital as any piece of historical fiction, set in an age of knights and chivalry and filled with a plethora of fascinating, multidimensional characters that you love, hate to love, or love to hate as they struggle for control of a divided kingdom."

And now I learn it's just "nothing but rape, pillage and plunder. And incest."

I wonder how they could have been so badly misunderstood by the other readers?

Posted by: Pat C. at August 22, 2011 7:35 PM

I've already read all the GoT books and I still agree with jck - enjoyment about faux-rape is not excused because it's "in the books".

Posted by: ArmaAngelus at August 22, 2011 7:49 PM

Clooney's early movie efforts went nowhere, and the only films he's been in that have cracked $100M are Batman and Robin and the Oceans films. Sure, he had ER, but prior to that, he was known for a bit role in The Facts of Life. One failed film is way too little to judge Momoa's film career finished. Besides, the number of women swooning over him, myself included, pretty much guarantees that something will be found for him.

Posted by: PDamian at August 22, 2011 8:54 PM

He'll rebound. He's not the one at fault for Conan's failure. Has anyone seen Rose McGowan's character in the movie??

Posted by: Candy at August 22, 2011 11:10 PM

I'm disappointed in last night's show. I'm disappointed in the Eric, Sookie situation. I guess I was naive in thinking that it could be explored the 'correct way' sometime before the season ended.

I'm also disappointed that I may not even get to see it next week, storm coming and all. Bummer.

Posted by: Candy at August 22, 2011 11:18 PM

I would watch this guy read a phone book. Naked.

Posted by: Az at August 23, 2011 12:20 AM

"I would watch this guy read a phone book. Naked."

I would at least put on a light top, in case the a/c gets chilly.

Posted by: Craig at August 23, 2011 2:09 AM

Well ER was still much more popular than anything Momoa has done to this point. Plus all the magazine spreads do add up, and Batman and Robin and Ocean's 11 were pretty early in his career. Don't mistake Momoa's prevalence around these parts for mass appeal, because Clooney blows him out of the water in this regard.

One bad, poorly performing movie doesn't kill an actor's career, but when it's their first wide exposure like this, it can be devastating.

Posted by: Socrates_Johnson at August 23, 2011 9:35 AM

it's a shame he had good buzz after Game of Thrones but like the others one bad movie doesn't end a career just ask Ryan Reynolds. Hollywood can't stuff him into enough movies.

Lisa Bonet must be happy though, she won't lose her man to the next Angelina Jolie.

Posted by: Apple at August 23, 2011 10:05 AM

"I would watch this guy read a phone book. Naked."

that makes two of us.

Posted by: Jean at August 23, 2011 2:10 PM

But he's so pretty! We have so many really pretty girls around that can't act their way out of a greasy paperbag, why can't we have just one guy??

Posted by: Carolina Girl at August 24, 2011 12:57 PM

@Carolina Girl
You already do,.. he is called Taylor Lautner

Posted by: Shade at September 26, 2011 6:39 PM

Arnold couldn't act but this guy is even worse. It was a series of poses run together. Ive seen all his work I think, and his best performance was game of thrones. That is because he said nothing and did nothing. Send the kid back to baywatch that is where he belongs. While watching conan I kept ecpecting the "Hoff" to pull up in a jeep with babes in red bikinis and a beechball. Yes he totally sucks as an actor no matter whether the nut jobs in Hollywood allow him to screw up any more projects or not.I know with a few months training maybe they can teach him to say: "I can't believe it's not butter"
