Actors 40 Percent Of You Have Forgotten About, 40 Percent of You Never Heard Of, and 20 Percent of You Loved

Good luck with this quiz, folks. This is the New York Times crossword puzzle of Pajiba quizzes. In fact, unless you were a latchkey kid between 1985 and 1997, don’t even bother. You’ll just embarrass yourself. This is a quiz for hardcore, serious goddamn television viewers. It will mock you. It will fuck your mother while you’re not looking. It will keep you up at nights.

Below, I will present to you a series of 15 pictures of actors and actresses that fit the headline description: “Actors 40 Percent Of You Have Forgotten About, 40 Percent of You Never Heard Of, and 20 Percent of You Loved.” (You have no idea how hard it is to come up with 15 names that fit the criteria). You will be given four choices. You will have 30 seconds to identify the actor or actress. However, your score will drop every second it takes for you to answer the question.

There are no prizes award for this quiz, only shame if you do poorly, and incredible shame if you do well. I encourage you, in the comments below, to leave your score so that the rest of us can mock you relentlessly.

Good luck. You’re going to need it.

1400...wooo?

Posted by: Jay at July 31, 2009 2:05 PM

Ahh, Jonathan Brandis. That's a still of him from "It", isn't it? I fell in love with him there - he was a great little actor. Shame he's not still with us.:/

Posted by: luthien26 at July 31, 2009 2:07 PM

400, but it doesn't feel fair, the timer's broken on that quiz.

Posted by: George at July 31, 2009 2:09 PM

1100

Posted by: stacerme at July 31, 2009 2:11 PM

I never comment but I don't know if I should be embarassed or proud to have gotten 1400.

Posted by: Jen Diff at July 31, 2009 2:11 PM

1200.

There were a couple in there I had no clue about.

Posted by: Carrie at July 31, 2009 2:12 PM

800 and I thought I was getting all of them!

Posted by: jack at July 31, 2009 2:15 PM

1200. i knew all but three. i'm not sure that's a good thing.

Posted by: lizzieborden at July 31, 2009 2:15 PM

600. But I think the countdown clock is broken. Also, I was too young for a lot of this shit.

Posted by: Marra at July 31, 2009 2:15 PM

1800...? Can that be right?

Oh, and it's not "Rae Dong Chong." It's Rae Dawn Chong. Paging Dr. Freud...

Posted by: Jerce at July 31, 2009 2:15 PM

1000/1500 I don't know if I'm ashamed or proud but a good chunk of those I only got through process of elimination.

Posted by: TylerDFC at July 31, 2009 2:17 PM

Also: Louise Jameson....Woooo!

Posted by: Jay at July 31, 2009 2:18 PM

Then I call for a Mulligan on the Rae Dawn question. The other answers didn't sound right, but that seemed like a made-up name.

Posted by: stacerme at July 31, 2009 2:19 PM

1300, but two were lucky guesses.

Come on, who doesn't know Devon Sawa? SLC Punk, anyone?

Posted by: stewey at July 31, 2009 2:20 PM

1300 - I really need to turn the tv off and go outside more often.

Posted by: greenblue at July 31, 2009 2:21 PM

1500. TOPANGA!!!!!!

But I was disappointed that Ryder Strong didn't make the list. That's going to be my transsexual porn name, in the event I make a career change at some later date.

Posted by: Judith Priest at July 31, 2009 2:21 PM

1400...I had such a crush on Jonathan Brandis from Seaquest, I was positive that I would marry him some day.

Posted by: DoubleH at July 31, 2009 2:22 PM

1300..I knew more than I expected.

Posted by: wooky at July 31, 2009 2:22 PM

but that seemed like a made-up name.

Just means you haven't seen "Commando".

For shame.

Posted by: Jay at July 31, 2009 2:23 PM

1100 out of 1500

Godtopus, but I used to watch a lot of TV.

Posted by: Spender at July 31, 2009 2:23 PM

600. Hopefully that score, being neither uberlow nor remotely high, exempts me from shame.

Hm. No, it doesn't.

Posted by: esme at July 31, 2009 2:23 PM

900. I was actually stoked with that score because the only ones I knew without process of elimination or guessing were Greico and Dong Chong (ha!).

Posted by: Handel at July 31, 2009 2:25 PM

800.
Latchkey kid, sure, but in the wrong country! I got Louise Jameson because I watched classic Doctor Who, and Andrew Keegen because of '10 Things I Hate About You'. The rest, if I got any right it was pure guesswork!

Posted by: Tarn at July 31, 2009 2:26 PM

Next time, pick a smaller window, so that you can't see anything anymore.

Posted by: FabMax at July 31, 2009 2:32 PM

Hmmm...1200. But I must say, there were a couple on there that I just got really lucky in guessing.

Posted by: Whorish Mouth at July 31, 2009 2:33 PM

1100.

DoubleH, you would have had to fight me for him. I loved me some Jonathan Brandis, RIP.

Posted by: leuce7 at July 31, 2009 2:33 PM

800. I'm probably too young for half of these.

But most importantly, there was kid named Alasdair Gillis? At least I recognized the set as You Can't Do That On Television.

Posted by: kelsy at July 31, 2009 2:34 PM

well, i took the damned quick and the timer froze. i got 2 wrong out of 15.

Posted by: glittergirl at July 31, 2009 2:35 PM

1200. I had two lucky guesses.

Posted by: Jim Doggie at July 31, 2009 2:36 PM

1200! twice my SAT score. Getting smarter in my old age.

Posted by: psychoticmonkey at July 31, 2009 2:36 PM

1200. I think I got Heather Thomas and the other older one mixed up, and didn't know Lisa Dean Ryan. The rest, I actually knew instantly on sight and just had to find the names...

Posted by: Anna von Beaverplatz at July 31, 2009 2:38 PM

1400. I should call my parents and thank them for always leaving me home alone.
Latchkey kids unite!! And did anyone else have a little red stool in the kitchen? Just me? I wasn't tall enough to cook soup, otherwise.

Posted by: myysharona (formerly Sharon) at July 31, 2009 2:39 PM

But most importantly, there was kid named Alasdair Gillis?

I had such a crush on Alasdair... I think it was partly the spelling of his name and the Canadian accent.

Posted by: Anna von Beaverplatz at July 31, 2009 2:40 PM

1100, but I must admit a few were very lucky guesses.

Posted by: meaux at July 31, 2009 2:42 PM

Ah, Jonathan Brandis. He was Good King Wenceslas on some TV movie, and I made a point to watch his promos whenever they were on PreviewGuide. Such a cutie. May he RIP.

Posted by: Brie at July 31, 2009 2:42 PM

800 and like most of you, I guessed a lot.

Posted by: androstarr at July 31, 2009 2:42 PM

1500!

Holy crap, I need to get a life! My mom was a teacher so I got to see a lot of this crap while I was still at school...

Oh Jonathan Brandis! How I loved you! I do believe that's where my white boy love started...

Posted by: Trouble at July 31, 2009 2:44 PM

2 words for you Brandis fans...Lady Bugs. Or is that one word?

Posted by: Whorish Mouth at July 31, 2009 2:44 PM

Holy shit. I had no idea that Jonathon Brandis was dead.

Posted by: Captain Steve at July 31, 2009 2:46 PM

1400 -- yes, I watched a great deal of TV when I was young. And yes, I was also crazy about Jonathon Brandis (RIP).

And whatever happened to most of these people, anyway? Where IS Alasdair?

Posted by: Siege at July 31, 2009 2:46 PM

LadyBugs! Yes, Whorish Mouth, I definitely remember Brandis in drag...

*swoon* He was so pretty...

Posted by: Trouble at July 31, 2009 2:47 PM

My sister was obsessed with him on SeaQuest. Sad how he ended his life. :(

Posted by: Whorish Mouth at July 31, 2009 2:48 PM

1000. That's good for a young one such as myself.

Posted by: Rachimoo at July 31, 2009 2:48 PM

Just means you haven't seen "Commando".

But I have! I fear that, as a female, I'm unable to form memories about Schwarzenegger movies. I would have paid more attention to the stuff blowing up if I'd known there were going to be tests!

Posted by: stacerme at July 31, 2009 2:52 PM

I can't believe that I got 1300... and how few were complete guesses.

How did some of you get 1800 out of 1500?

Posted by: Eep at July 31, 2009 2:54 PM

800, mostly pure shit luck. I grew up in Japan for christ sake.

Posted by: yocean at July 31, 2009 2:54 PM

Oh, and my score was 1200. I guessed on a couple.

Posted by: Brie at July 31, 2009 2:56 PM

1100 and walking away in shame. I graduated college in 1985 so how the f do I know these people??

Posted by: Patti at July 31, 2009 2:58 PM

1200. I was in love with Jonathon Brandis! I watched (and recorded on VHS) every single episode of SeaQuest DSV, not to mention those cinematic classics Ladybugs and The Neverending Story II. *Sigh* That's entertainment.

Posted by: Baby Friday at July 31, 2009 3:01 PM

1000/1500 I don't know if I'm ashamed or proud but a good chunk of those I only got through process of elimination.

You two stole my posts.

Posted by: BWeaves at July 31, 2009 3:04 PM

700. Even though I was a latchkey kid, I was -2 to 10 years old during the time frame stated above. I have to admit not many of these actors or actresses appeared on my regular television line up. Topanga was for sure and Andrew Keegan.

I don't know how much I buy into this quiz mocking me or fucking my mom when I'm not looking. It might keep me up at nights, but only because it's a rude house guest that came over for a hot cup of tea with my mom at an odd hour and now they're swapping stories. My mom is talking is about that time I was naked and strutting around in her high heels, its really not that entertaining, but there are pictures. In an album. Which my mom is now pulling out.

I don't actually live with my mom but this is precisely the kind of thing that would happen if I came home for a visit. Yes, this quiz is like an awkward childhood friend that has stayed the same but you moved on, grew up, but you've been thrown together and have to make conversation about things that you don't really remember. Yes, now I'm at a place where I can hate this quiz.

Posted by: Monica at July 31, 2009 3:07 PM

800. I'm too old for this one.

Posted by: Mrs Smith at July 31, 2009 3:09 PM

I got 1500. My dad was right. I watched ENTIRELY too much tv growing up...

Posted by: Lainey at July 31, 2009 3:09 PM

Whorish Mouth, Ladybugs was the beginning of my insane Brandis crush. I thought sharing the same birthday was a sign that one day he would be mine. Alas.

Posted by: Julie at July 31, 2009 3:10 PM

1100 and I probably guessed half the ones I got right!

Posted by: birdgal at July 31, 2009 3:11 PM

900 and feeling pretty good. I was born in 1984 so some of these I could only guess on.

1100.

Parker Lewis can't lose...bitches.

Posted by: arr matey at July 31, 2009 3:20 PM

I got 1100 - messed one up and got lucky on two others.

I still can't choose between Thomas and Locklear. Guess I'll have to retire to my bunk and try to make sense of it.

Posted by: Kballs at July 31, 2009 3:22 PM

Impossible to forget about Andrew Keegan. He and Timothy Olyphant made such a cute couple.

13 out of 15, not bad. Seriously, though, how could anyone NOT remember some of those? Devon Gummersall - the name stands out, let alone the hair.

1300 :)

1100. I don't know if I'm pleased or saddened by the score.

Posted by: Alice at July 31, 2009 3:31 PM

1000. Decent I suppose...but I watch more television now than I did back then. Back then I had more important things to do like building forts by the bayou and plotting various ways to hoodwink my parents into doing my bidding.

Posted by: Smokin at July 31, 2009 3:33 PM

1200. Huh. I have some thinking to do.

Posted by: Mulva at July 31, 2009 3:34 PM

900. I guessed a lot. Can we find out the answers on the ones we missed?

Posted by: Anne (in Reno) at July 31, 2009 3:38 PM

1300/1500. The first one was a technical error (damn you wireless mouse!), but the other was an honest to Godtopus "I have no idea" moment. He looked like he was on the set of You Can't Do That On Television, which I think I was a bit young for.

Posted by: feramones at July 31, 2009 3:42 PM

I got 1100. But how did I miss Rae Dawn Chong?

SLC Punk, anyone?

YES. I love that movie, stewey.

Posted by: MelBivDevoe at July 31, 2009 3:46 PM

1400, but lots of lucky guesses.

Posted by: Treena at July 31, 2009 4:15 PM

1100. I have always watched way too much tv, but I really have now idea who a couple of those people are.

Posted by: Montina at July 31, 2009 4:22 PM

thanks so much Dustin, now I'm depressed, did u really have to put Jonathan Brandris' pic? someone who left the industry and is leading a happy and fulfilling life wasn't available? what about small wonder? isn't turn into a almost nun? you already have a catchy line "almost real girl tuns into almost nun" or "robot takes vows". I mean seriously dude, I already almost finished the prozac this week!

Posted by: rio at July 31, 2009 4:28 PM

300. In my defense, all of these people were before my time.

Posted by: Zuzu at July 31, 2009 4:34 PM

800, and I wasn't really cognizant of live action TV until 1989/1990 (4 going on 5). Would have been 1000 if my mouse didn't keep sticking. Yay, me?

The Disney Tapes only lasted so long as a baby sitter after the family taught me to rewind. TV meant longer trips to the store for my family before I had a panic attack that Mommy wasn't coming back. She did, every time, but no one could convince me until her car pulled up that she didn't leave for good.

Posted by: Robert at July 31, 2009 4:46 PM

500/1500 but then again, I grew up in the 90's in the UK and i recognised like 2 of them.

Posted by: Temet Nosce at July 31, 2009 4:55 PM

1200! I was a fetus when most of these shows started airing and my parents are morally opposed to cable, so if any of the shows were in re-runs there, I didn't watch them.

Posted by: Geetch at July 31, 2009 4:58 PM

1100

Posted by: Forrest at July 31, 2009 5:08 PM

900! I'm actually kinda proud, considering more than half of those were random guesses. I knew Danielle Fishel (TOPANGA!), Richard Grieco (Veronica Mars), Jonathan Brandis (no idea how, but I'd seen pictures of him before) and Rae Dawn Chong (from the good old days of the Rae Dawn Chong challenges on TWoP), but I've literally never heard of any of the rest, save for Devon Sawa (Final Destination), who I then proceeded to not recognise. Facepalm.

Posted by: Shay at July 31, 2009 5:11 PM

I got a 1200, and apparently there's another Nicole on here, with a whorey mother. I'm the real Nicole, bitches.

Posted by: Nicole at July 31, 2009 5:11 PM

1200 - Not too shabby, although I fit right into that latchkey demographic mentioned above so I probably should have gotten higher.

Posted by: kiddo at July 31, 2009 5:12 PM

1000. Always in the middle. There were a couple I guessed on, but also a couple I knew but couldn't remember the names.

Parker Lewis Can't Lose was an awesome show.

1300 - I was a total latchkey kid. I have to say, I'm really disappointed I didn't see anyone from Hey Dude or Salute Your Shorts. I couldn't get enough of those shows

Posted by: Kylie at July 31, 2009 5:40 PM

1200. Interesting that Jonathan Brandis is your header pic, being that I only found out 3 weeks ago or so that he is not alive.

Posted by: Michelle at July 31, 2009 5:46 PM

Richard Grieco (Veronica Mars)

This cracks me up. I didn't even know he was on VMars (I guess I haven't gotten that far in the series)... I knew him instantly as the poor man's Johnny Depp replacement from a little something I like to call 21 Jump Street.

Y'know, because that was the name of the show.

Posted by: Anna von Beaverplatz at July 31, 2009 5:57 PM

i got them all wrong i don't know who any of those people are.

Posted by: Utah Dynamo at July 31, 2009 7:45 PM

1400. swear to godtopus. and some of these people i could not tell you what show they were on or why i had ever heard of them and yet their names and faces are EMBLAZONED on my memory. i can only surmise that somehow, through countless hours of combing through issues of teen beat looking for pictures to cut out and add to my giant obsessive pre-teen kirk cameron wall collage, i osmosed all of this information and stored it away somewere in the fatty cells of my brain, along with all the lyrics to debbie gibson's 'out of the blue' album.

Posted by: ironypants at July 31, 2009 8:04 PM

1400...Man...Now I'm all bummed out about Jonathan Brandis (Ladybugs was the shizzle in my opinion). As for what happened to Devon Sawa...I believe he's fallen into the well of meth use and spousal abuse. Sigh...why oh why must the heartthrobs of my youth disappoint so?

Posted by: Miz Misanthrope at July 31, 2009 8:05 PM

1000, but I did reasonably well with guessing.

Posted by: SaBrina at July 31, 2009 8:07 PM

Posted by: Cindy at July 31, 2009 8:19 PM

500, which I don't think is bad considering I was born in 1987 and was stuck in after-school programs instead of coming home and watching TV.
