For the Nerds: The Literary Dalek Game (with Illustrations)

This is several months old, and some of you may have already run across it, but it’s new to me, and certainly worth sharing with fellow Whovians who are not yet privy to its brilliance. A woman named Kathleen likes to play the Dalek game with friends, particularly on long road trips. Basically, it entails replacing important words in book titles with “Dalek,” like, say, The Dalek in the Rye. There’s hours of fun to be had. I want to see the Dalek Sutra

But Kathleen has taken it one step further by illustrating the dust jackets for those books. You can see the entire gallery of the dust jackets over on her blog, but I’m going to include my favorites to entice you to visit.

Charlie St Cloud was a trailer attached to Scott Pilgrim here. As much as we loved that film we spent much of the time in the pub after debating the ludicrousity (sic) of a film wherein a boy can't be with a girl because otherwise he will lose his ghost brother. From then on we've played a variation of the dalek game but with ghosts. Examples include Ghost Ghost Busters, Jurassic Ghost and Space Ghost: Ghost to Ghost. Which was a Jerry Springer style spin-off. Of course Ghost invalidates this whole game.
