There Is a Wait So Long: Harrison Ford Is Ready to Film His Next Blockbuster Return

Like it or not the past returns to haunt us all, and apparently Harrison Ford is involved in our collective dreams. Seriously though, when you think about all the fantastic franchises the 73-year old actor has been involved with, and how many of those have been or are in the works to be rebooted, sequeled, prequeled or just plain awesomed, it’s damned impressive. I can honestly say that after seeing his grand performance in The Force Awakens, I’m much more comfortable with any of his characters’ resurrections and in that vein, here comes your man…again.

As previously announced, Ridley Scott has had the Blade Runner sequel script in his back pocket for quite a while, and though he ultimately decided to take the role of executive producer, Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Enemy) directing should make for an interesting return trip (and gods knows Scott will keep a ship on his course). I’m actually a little relieved Sir Ridley is letting someone else drive; he can let that megalomania play out with Prometheus 2 Alien: Covenant. The magnificent, Oscar-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins will shoot the film and co-writer of the original, Hampton Fancher — along with Michael Green — has written the sequel script based on a Scott/Fancher collaboration. All in all, we couldn’t ask for a better crowd.

Ford will reprise his role as absolute replicant Rick Deckard, and Ryan Gosling co-stars as…well, no one actually knows who he’ll play. As stated in a joint press release, filming begins this July, and the Alcon Entertainment movie will be distributed by Sony Pictures.
