In the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, Kate McKinnon played Hillary Clinton pouring her heart out in a bar to a bartender, played by the actual Hillary Clinton. Other than looking over McKinnon’s shoulder to see the cue cards, Clinton is fantastic, especially with her Trump impression.
She is essentially poking fun of herself by letting McKinnon’s Clinton off the hook for some of the mistakes she’s made. McKinnon’s “It could’ve been sooner” line in response to the gay marriage question is also terrific.
In fact, it’s one of the show’s better political cameos, and I’m not just saying that because I’m in the bag for Hillary. This sketch should gain her some more favorability points, and some authenticity points for conceding some weaknesses.
