Like many Americans, the Trump family was quick to get the most out of their holiday decorations by busting them out as soon as Thanksgiving’s too-much-turkey hangover wore off. Unlike many Americans, the First Family eschewed the traditional red and green, and leaned hard into white Christmas.
The holidays are upon us!! Right now: flotus is seeing to every last detail here at the @WhiteHouse pic.twitter.com/TglHYDVUx1

That’s an honest-to-Godtopus photo of a White House hallway’s decorations, shared by Melania Trump’s Director of Communications, Stephanie Grisham. It elicited strong reactions (including many from me).
Staying true to brand, the theme for the White House's holiday decorations are: Your Worst Nightmares Come To Life https://t.co/fiJ15RHOHy

This is clearly fake. Gay icon The Babadook would never go to a Trump White House.

I wasn't sure whether Melania's White House Christmas decorations were more Pan's Labyrinth, It, or Stranger Things, so I combined them all. pic.twitter.com/FKkcVHcxlM

Then there was this bizarre footage of Melania Trump watching ballet, which sparked fresh inspiration.

It needed a dissonant minor-key instrumental score, like maybe one of the Trent Reznor scores when he works with David Fincher.

I don't want to hear any more from this administration about the "war on Christmas" while Melania is silently stabbing innocent Nutcracker ballerinas with her eyes https://t.co/khQbM56Fpn

Melania wandering through the Christmas decorated White House and robotically watching Ballerinas perform is already 2/3rds of a horror movie.

People have been asking what I thought of the ballerinas Melania had perform. I thought they danced beautifully, but the finale was a bit much. pic.twitter.com/J4BbiRfMnh

The hallway of up-lit dead branches and Melania observing a ballet recital while cloaked in shadow are the best things to come out of this presidency so far tbh
