I cringe whenever I attempt to watch any old Seinfeld episodes, but that doesn’t mean I fail to appreciate the many pop culture gifts it gave us over the years. One of those gifts is Festivus, the holiday created by author and editor Daniel O’Keefe in 1966 and presented to the world as the idea of Frank Costanza (Jerry Stiller) in the 1997 episode “The Strike”, written by O’Keefe’s son.

December 23 marks Festivus and has lived on in pop culture infamy ever since.

Also, Google “Festivus” for a surprise in the results.
