Guy Goes On a Deranged Facebook Rant, Illustrates the Dangers and Misogyny of the 'Nice Guy'

The patriarchy harms everyone, men and women alike (well except for those elites right at the tippy top who are immune to most things, but stick with me here). One of its more insidious effects is the commodification of the female. Thanks to the proliferation of countless male-centred stories, the message is reinforced that a man is somehow entitled to a woman. That she can play the part of a prize, or an achievement, for a heroic male protagonist. An outgrowth of this, also reinforced through many different types of media, is the idea of the ‘Nice Guy’. This is the notion that simply by being the bare minimum of decent—not by actually bringing anything to the table, or because the partnership is one that works—a man will be entitled to a woman. This is obviously incredibly damaging to women, but also to men—as it can lead to mental health problems—and to society as a whole—as it reduces and commodifies human interaction.

What follows is a Facebook rant of quite epic proportions that illustrates a lot of this, as a man rages against the women who have apparently spurned him, and then tags 70 of them in it.

It’s gonna melt your fucking brain.
