Be warned: the following post contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Okay. Ready?

So as you should know by now—and if not you should not be reading this post—Kylo Ren is Ben Solo, Dark Side son of Leia and Han. And in a big showdown moment reminiscent of Luke and Vader in Empire Strikes Back, Kylo/Ben kills Han. During this moment, Chewie—growling with pain—shoots Kylo in the side. And one artist imagined what went into that choice, that defining moment. Tyson Murphy is a Lead Character Artist on World of Warcraft, and also the guy that’s made us whimper over Wookiee feelings.

Because of course Chewie knew Ben. He—on some level—must have seen him grow up, must have known Han’s pain in losing him to the Dark Side, must have felt conflicted in that moment. And just like that, this joins our Star Wars head canon.

Kristy Puchko promises you more upbeat and perverse The Force Awakens talk will come later this week.
