A Cat Thinks Long and Hard Before Hitting a Dog

It’s a tale as old as time: Dog exists; cat feels the need to attack. Truly I love both types of animal—though I think we know which side of the war I will take if it ever comes to that—but goddamn aren’t cats just the most ridiculous little trolls. Take this clip of a cat, caught in a cut and dried case of premeditated violence against a perfectly peaceful, little bit spaced out-looking pooch. This is no spontaneous act of buffoonery. No, this cat takes all of half a bloody minute to ponder its needless strike. It calibrates, it judges, it measures its strike. Maybe, maybe, there’s some part of its brain that considers the why of it all, stopping mid-motion and flashing back to all the times that dog has undoubtedly treated it with nothing but unqualified love, but then clearly the flashback freeze frames and the cat justifies itself in a smug Bugs Bunny voice and goes ahead with this absolutely ludicrous display:
