Bartender of the Bachelor in Paradise beach and the man who should have been the host of the whole franchise, Wells Adams, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about all the drama going down this season. More specifically, the drama going down for my favorite, Brayden Bowers.

“I didn’t expect to root for Brayden after his season on The Bachelorette with Charity [Lawson]. But with his split from Kat, we’re seeing a softer side to him,” the interviewer said.

“Listen, I was the same way,” Adams responded.

“I remember going to the beach and being like, ‘I don’t like this guy. He’s got stupid earrings on. I hate his hat. He’s got a scarf. It’s 9 million degrees. What do you need a scarf for?’ And also, I didn’t love him on Charity’s season, but I always say this: Paradise is everyone’s redemption story. To me, Brayden is one of the better characters that we have on Paradise this season. He’s also one of my favorite people to come to the bar. He’s very lovely, very nice. This is an awesome opportunity for him to change everyone’s perception of him. By the end of the season, everyone is going to be very much Team Brayden.”

I’m not quite sold yet. Listen, when he takes off the costume and talks about his feelings, I get it. I think we’re finding out—and I hope he’s learning this lesson too—that this rapid-fire dating format is not for him. He’s an emotional guy and he’s maybe a little socially awkward, so he puts on a costume and says stuff about crystals and basically forces people to reject him before they can really get close to him.

The breakup conversation between him and Kat made me sad. He just wanted to express himself, and she wouldn’t let him. It was reminiscent of the last conversation he had with Charity on Bachelorette (though he expressed himself very poorly during that one), and he basically sent himself home after that. With the way it’s going on the beach so far, it’s looking like he might have to do that again.

What this man needs is a patient soul, and I don’t think that person is on the beach.
