Every month I mentally evaluate the streaming services I subscribe to. What shows do I watch? What movies am I looking forward to? Every month I hope to eliminate the cost of at least one service. Take Feud: Capote vs The Swans and put it in mod, Lilly Pulitzer prints soaked in Florida sun and you have Apple TV+’s upcoming Palm Royale. Kristen Wiig, Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson (Judas and the Black Messiah), and Kaia Gerber (Cindy Crawford’s daughter) star with Allison Janney, Carol Burnett, Laura Dern, and Bruce Dern in the underdog story of “have-not” Maxine Simmons (Kristin Wiig) trying to break into Palm Beach high society.
Loosely based on Juliet McDaniel’s novel ‘Mr. and Mrs. American Pie’, Palm Royale begins streaming on Apple TV+ on March 20th.
The world needs more quality ninja content, so we’re all excited about Netflix’s House of Ninjas from writer/director Dave Boyle. The series stars Kento Kaku, Yôsuke Eguchi, and Tae Kimura as members of the last ninja family hiding in plain sight in modern-day Japan.
House of Ninjas premieres on Netflix on February 15th.
Kate Winslet goes tête-à-tête with Martha Plimpton in Max’s dark, poltical comedy The Regime. Guillaume Gallienne (Down By Love), Andrea Riseborough, and Hugh Grant also star in the limited series about a fictional European government that is unraveling under its chancellor’s (Kate Winslet) loosening grip on leadership and reality.
The six-episode series begins March 3rd on Max.
Shudder is hit or miss with me. But I’m excited about Late Night with the Devil, so there’s zero snark in this week’s lagniappe. How can you go wrong with David Dastmalchian and the devil on late-night TV?
