The long-awaited reboot of The Real Housewives of New York featuring former J. Crew executive Jenna Lyons, supermodel Ubah Hassan, and others, premiered Sunday night. The initial conflict was over a cheese plate, but the most compelling part of an otherwise disappointing premiere was the bleeped name of a restaurant.

Let me explain: Erin Lichy invited her other cast members to a night out at a restaurant. A couple of the women thought this particular restaurant was “so 2012” and a place they “wouldn’t be caught dead in.” That’s all fine and not something we’ve never heard on a Housewives show before, but the difference is…Bravo bleeped the name of the restaurant. Like, as if it were profanity. They bleeped it and blurred the mouths of the women speaking as it was spoken.

I cannot emphasize enough how strange and confusing this was. This is the franchise that gave us Shannon Beador screaming “This isn’t my plate!” at the top of her lungs at an establishment called The Quiet Woman, a scene that got her banned from the restaurant. She was later invited back and still frequents the place.

So, what’s the deal with [redacted]?

Lichy defended her choice by saying, “It was a huge group. Nothing was available, so I picked, [bleep]…The restaurant used to be the hottest place in New York. It’s easy to get to, and it’s convenient.”

Her castmate Brynn Whitfield said of the spot, “It’s not 2005, and I’m not a D-list model,” and that it’s an acceptable choice if you go with people visiting from out of town as long as those people are “from Florida.”

There was further discussion on Sunday’s Watch What Happens Live following the premiere, but the name was still redacted. Andy Cohen said it was “fine” and that a lot of athletes go there.

Vulture has some theories as to what it could be. As of right now, this is the most interesting thing about the reboot.
