Hello, TV friend. Are you unsure what to do with yourself now that UnREAL is over?
And you feel a little apprehensive that there are only three more episodes of Mr. Robot?
And you’re having a real hard time saying goodbye to True Dete-
Sorry, that was mean of me.
My point is that you, like me, might be worried that there’s no TV to watch until the fall lineup starts. But, friend, I have a solution for you: USA’s Playing House.
And, friend, it’s amazing.
No, it is right. And hysterical. And it combines UnREAL’s complex-female-friendship with Mr. Robot’s being-on-USA-ness with none of True Detective’s seriously-who-is-Stan-ity.
So what’s Playing House about? Basically:
Real life best friends Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair star as best friends Maggie and Emma. There’s a baby involved. It’s really all an excuse for them to hang out and have funny people stop by and be funny.
People like Keegan Michael-Key playing the best cop/ ex-boyfriend
Jane Kaczmarek as Emma’s mother with unusual hobbies.
Zach Woods as the creatively named brother Zach. (Seriously, is he on every comedy now?)
And, lest you think that Parham and St. Clair are just showing off their funny friends, let me assure you they’re hysterical. You want to be them or be best friends with them or maybe just have them as close friends because you don’t want to get in the way of their friendship.
And, friend, if you decide not to take my advice and watch Playing House?
We’ll just be partying without you.
