“Strap in, douche waffles.” The apocalypse just got cooler with Netflix’s new fantasy series Daybreak.

Supernatural’s Colin Ford stars as Josh Wheeler, a high school misfit from Glendale, California, who must traverse the apocalypse in search of his missing girlfriend. It’s a brave new world where cheerleaders have gone Amazon and jocks have gone full Mad Max: Fury Road. So, Josh teams up with oddball Angelica (Alyvia Alyn Lind) and former bully Wesley (Austin Crute), and with a skateboard, samurai sword, and flame-thrower, they’ll take on whatever mayhem comes their way, including zombie-like critters called “ghoulies.”

Creators Brad Peyton and Aron Eli Coleite adapted Daybreak from Brian Ralph’s graphic novel of the same name. The show has been described as “a subversive dark zombie comedy,” and features Matthew Broderick, Krysta Rodriguez, Jeant√© Godlock, Gregory Kasyan, and Cody Kearsley. All ten episodes of Season 1 will hit Netflix on October 24.
