Missy Elliott performed at the VMAs last night, accepting her well-earned place in the Video Vanguard. And—as you might expect—she brought the house down with a series of sprawling, jaw-dropping spectacles. Amid an awesome medley of her hits “Get Ur Freak On,” “Lose Control,” and “Work It,” the moment that had us both agog and aghast involved a reunion 17 years in the making. Among an army of outstanding dancers, the supa dupa fly rap star brought out breakdancer Alyson Stoner, who first wowed us back in 2002 in the “Work It” video.

We are agog, because Stoner has become a stunner and hasn’t missed a step. We are aghast because “Work It” was 17 years ago!? Where forsooth my youth!? What cruel joke is mortality!? WHY DON’T I LOOK THIS RAD 17 YEARS LATER?!!!

Meanwhile, the youths didn’t get it.

We won’t weep for them. We’re too busy relishing in all this wow.

Here’s a bit more from Stoner, ahead of her surprise performance.

And finally, here’s the full beyond fabulous performance:
