Lisa Rinna was on Days of our Lives as Billie Reed in the 1990s, then reprised her role in the 2000s, again in 2018, and again in 2021 for the spinoff, Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem. Now she’s speaking out against the long-time director of the show, Albert Alarr, who was recently under investigation for misconduct.
“Karma is a f**king bitch,” Rinna said in an Instagram story. “Well, this took a long time let’s see when’s the last time I went over there and did that week on Peacock I couldn’t believe the work environment it was disgusting I was shocked I let many people know how I felt Albert included and they didn’t do a thing…” she went on in a rambling caption under a screenshot of a news story about the investigation.
The investigation started in March of this year “after a female employee claimed women had been disproportionately laid off and were not receiving equal pay.” There have since been allegations of sexual misconduct, as well as claims that Alarr “has been abusive, making people feel uncomfortable and humiliated.”
The internal investigation concluded after two months, and as a result, the production studio “has taken a series of actions designed to ensure a safe and respectful work environment.” Alarr received a “written warning and was asked to undergo training,” but he remains both co-executive producer and director, which, duh, outraged everybody involved, so they went on a brief hiatus right before the SAG-AFTRA strike, which then extended the hiatus for obvious reasons. Oh, and the entirety of the show’s PR team was fired in June, so, now, all communications go through Alarr and his close associates.
Rinna shared more thoughts on Threads, saying that when she returned to the DOOL set in 2021 she found the environment to be “hostile” and that she was “afraid for the young actors who had to continue to work there.”
Far be it from me to say Lisa Rinna was probably right, but Lisa Rinna was probably right.
