Make Room For Bob The Drag Queen

Some bad news and good news for fans of The Trixie And Katya Show. The Viceland series spun from Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova’s wildly popular web series “UNHhhh,” has hit a snag half-way through production of its first season. Katya (Brian McCook) has left the show to take time off and dedicate herself to bettering her mental health. But the silver lining to this disappointing development is that Trixie’s found a pretty stupendous stand-in, RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8 champion, Bob The Drag Queen.

In the announcement of this casting switch-up, Trixie declared, “For the second half of the season, we decided to get someone to make me look even more beautiful. Please welcome Bob the Drag Queen.”

And Bob shared, “I am so excited to be guesting on The Trixie and Katya Show. I’m neither Trixie or Katya, but it is Black History Month so…”

This might actually explain why Bob joined Trixie at the UNHhhh panel at NY’s Drag Con, which you can watch in its insane entirety here. (Full Disclosure: you can definitely hear this reporter cackle throughout.)

Having witnessed the wonder of Trixie and Bob together, I don’t think Viceland could have plucked a more perfect queen to sub in for Katya. Of course, we’ll miss Katya’s signature scream-laugh and gleefully trashy sense of humor. But self-care is important. So we’re rooting for her, we believe in her, and hope she’ll be back if the show gets a second season.

The Trixie & Katya Show airs Wednesday nights at 10:30 on Viceland.
