The latest addition to the 90 Day Fiancé lexicon, 90 Day: The Last Resort might just save the franchise. Basically, a handful of some of the best and worst couples from across the shows have been plucked from their lives for a group couple’s therapy retreat at a tropical resort. With the production values, the familiar musical intro, and copious wind-in-palm-tree shots, it looks a lot like White Lotus season 1. The format, though, is clearly inspired by more recent dating shows like The Ultimatum and Love Is Blind, where groups of near-strangers in couples congregate for drinking and drama.

The cast includes favorites like Jovi and Yara, and least favorites like Big Ed and Liz. Oh, and Angela is there with Michael zooming in on an iPad that she props up everywhere because Angela is just the face of the franchise at this point, and this time she expects Michael to really prove his love once and for all, virtually, or she’ll sign the divorce papers she keeps ready to go in her purse.

The most shocking revelation so far was when Yara confessed to Jovi that she’s secretly been on birth control amidst his pressuring her to have another baby. “She should do whatever she wants with her body,” said Kalani, who is there with her husband, Asuelu, in hopes of reconnecting after infidelity from both of them.

With so many new shows doing what 90 Day has done successfully for years, it’s time for change. The reunions, or “tell-alls,” when all the cast members get together to recap everything that happened throughout each season and share their thoughts with each other, have always been wildly popular. Last Resort takes the tell-all energy and turns it all the way up.
