Aaron Paul snapped some minds when he tweeted the following last night:
It's official! I will be playing Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. Give me my light saber!! Dreams are real my friends. http://t.co/TmPb7ETWKA— Aaron Paul (@aaronpaul_8) December 17, 2014
But rather than the Breaking Bad star busting out some shocking Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens news, he was dropping details about Jason Reitman’s next staged reading…which Paul will apparently bring a light saber to.
EW got the scoop on who will be joining Paul onstage in the Reitman-directed reading. J.K. Simmons, who scored rave reviews for his portrayal of a relentless musician mentor in Whiplash, will step into the
shoes mask of Darth Vader. Allstate adman Dennis Haysbert ups his badass cred, playing Lando Calrissian, while comedian Kevin Pollack will be replacing Frank Oz as the voice of Yoda.
Lastly, Ricky Gervais BFF and Hello Ladies star Stephen Merchant will take on the role of the persnickety C-3PO. “He’s tall, gangly, British, and has a great sense of humor, so I knew he’d crush the role of C-3PO,” Reitman told EW.
For now, Reitman is keeping mum on who’ll be his Han Solo, Princess Leia and Chewbacca. But with this reading happening tomorrow at 8PM. We expect those casting choices will drop soon.
