After a brief summer hiatus due to some travel, we’re back! And don’t worry, we’ve all been catching up on our television.
Dustin and I have both been watching Apple TV+’s new historical drama Chief of War (although I, naturally, am behind, but more on that in a moment). Tori’s finally on the Twisted Metal train and loving the ride, and there’s all sorts of other shows that those two watch that I haven’t, like Dexter or Wednesday or whatever, that’s all fine and good but that’s not what I’m here to talk about.
Because right now, the only show that matters is Netflix’s recently released Japanese drama Glass Heart.
What’s Glass Heart, you ask? What if I were to tell you that it was a romantic drama, and a music drama, and had kind of insane, overly dramatic beefs between musicians for somewhat murky reasons? It’s broad and loud and despite (or more likely, because of) the big swings it takes, it works and embraces the earnest, slightly cheesy nature of a story about pursuing your creative passions. It’s not a show I knew much about when I decided to sample it, but it has now boxed everything else out until I’m done with the season (or at least until Australian Survivor: Australia vs. The World, which arrives on Sunday).
Honestly, I cannot recommend it enough. (And Dustin and Tori have been convinced to join me! We’ll see if they like it. Okay we’ll see if Dustin likes it, I’m pretty sure Tori will have a good time.)
Podjiba! The only TV podcast that I know of that is obsessed with Glass Heart, can be found anywhere podcasts are available, including below!
