For those of you who enjoy Dustin’s recaps of Saturday Night Live, you may have noticed that this week he said that, and I quote: “Andy Samberg was back, (presumably with the Lonely Island Guys)”.
Presumably. Ahem.
Now, Dustin may claim that he wasn’t saying it was not The Lonely Island, simply that he didn’t want to assume because the song didn’t have all three members.
And yet, he ignores things like how Akiva Schaffer is right there. In the song. And that there are many Lonely Island songs that don’t feature all three.
But just to put Dustin’s mind at ease, I checked the credits of the song, which credits not only The Lonely Island as the performer, but also all three members (as well as Mark Postic/DJ Nu-Mark of Jurassic 5) as having written the song.
So not to worry Dustin, you don’t have to presume! The song that looked and sounded like The Lonely Island was, in fact, The Lonely Island. And not just Andy Samberg and unnamed associate.
Elsewhere in the podcast: we threw out our new format already, mostly because we began the show on a number of random asides and didn’t even get to Dustin’s game until halfway through! Despite this, we still managed to get our weekly coverage of Survivor on the books, as well as a brief discussion of the new HBO comedy The Franchise, which was co-created by Armando Ianucci, Sam Mendes, and most importantly (to Tori, at least), Cuban Fury co-writer Jon Brown! (The tl:dl for those of you who don’t listen: we are cautiously optimistic.)
