This week on the show:

- Tori tells us about the new Paramount+ adaptation of Fatal Attraction!

- Dustin tells us about the new Amazon show Citadel!

- We all watched a bunch of things, including John Mulaney’s new Netflix comedy special Baby J, plus our weekly check-ins on Barry, Ted Lasso, and Succession, three shows that are all going to end this month and definitely won’t leave a potential wasteland of TV behind!

Speaking of potential TV wastelands: you probably already know this, but the WGA (Writer’s Guild of America) is officially on strike as of May 2nd, 2023. Nobody knows how long the strike will go or how much it will affect what we all get to watch in the near future, but it absolutely will affect, in the years to come, not only what we get to watch, but who gets to make it, and whether they’re lined up for success or failure.

This is only my opinion, but the issues that the WGA is fighting for are not just financial (although that is important). It’s also about making sure that the people making TV shows and films in the future know how to, you know, actually do the job.

This strike is absolutely going to be painful for a lot of people, not just writers, even moreso after all the pandemic disruption of the past few years. But it’s my belief that not only will this make it possible for people to keep pursuing a career in writing, but this will also lead to better TV and film in the long run.
