We made it to Friday, let’s have a Drag Queen Zombie Apocalypse to celebrate! Tina Romero directs Queens of the Dead, a fierce, campy addition to the genre her father, George Romero, built. It looks like it’s gonna be a real banger.
Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding), Riki Lindhome (Wednesday), Jack Haven (I Saw The TV Glow), and Shaunette Renée Wilson (Washington Black) star in Queens of the Dead, which opens in theaters on October 24th.
Dustin wrote about The Housemaid earlier this year. I am convinced a third of the audience will attempt to boycott this film because of Sydney Sweeney, a third will attempt to boycott it because of Amanda Seyfried, and a third will say f*ck it because they can’t tell them apart in this trailer.
Brandon Sklenar (Drop), Michele Morrone (Another Simple Favor), and Elizabeth Perkins also star in The Housemaid.
It premieres in theaters on December 19th.
Oscar Isaac’s wife, Elvira Lind, has created a documentary about Isaac’s 2017 turn as Hamlet at the Public Theater. More so, King Hamlet is a film about a year in the actor’s life, which was filled with public and private challenges and joys. It’s a beautiful piece about an artist struggling to make sense of an iconic role and his own life.
King Hamlet premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in August. It is currently streaming on Mubi.
Here’s a bonus selfie Riz Ahmed posted to Facebook of himself, Oscar, Ethan Hawke, and Andrew Scott, who have all played the doomed Prince of Denmark.
This week’s real lagniappe is this very short, very strange, very laughable teaser for Nic Cage’s upcoming Jesus-y movie, The Carpenter’s Son. Have a weekend, everyone! Watch out for shaitan.
