It feels like Disney was trying to hide Ironheart from us the way they haven’t been promoting it and only dropped the trailer last week, about a month before the series premieres. But I am here to make sure you know Ironheart is coming to Disney+. We should give RiRi a shot. The show is produced by Ryan Coogler, and he hasn’t done wrong by us yet. Fingers crossed we don’t end up starving for action while being force-fed boring exposition (ahem, Daredevil)
The six-episode series stars Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos (why is he dressed like a Jedi?), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Manny Montana (Good Girls), Zoe Terakes (Talk to Me), Lyric Ross (This Is Us), and Matthew Elam (The Many Saints of Newark)
The first three episodes of Ironheart launch on Disney+ on June 24.
They had me at Danielle Deadwyler (The Woman in the Yard). But the story of 40 Acres feels like one we should all be taking notes on in these Unprecedented Times.
After a series of plagues and wars leaves society in ruins, the Freemans are surviving — even thriving — on a farm in the middle of nowhere… so long as they repel the occasional raiding party.
40 Acres also stars Michael Greyeyes (Woman Walks Ahead), Kataem O’Connor, Milcania Diaz-Rojas, and Leenah Robinson.
It opens in theaters on July 2nd. How festive.
I had no interest in Caught Stealing until I watched the trailer. Now I’m interested in the movie and interested in Austin Butler and his little dirtbag mustache. So, good job, movie trailer. I’m still confused by Matt Smith’s character because I don’t remember a lot of punks walking around NYC in full regalia like that in the 1990s. But go on, Darren Aronofsky. Go on.
The cast of Caught Stealing also includes Zoë Kravitz, Bad Bunny, Nikita Kukushkin, Regina King, Griffin Dunne (An American Werewolf in London), Action Bronson, Carol Kane, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Reservation Dogs), and bonus points to anyone who recognized Liev Schreiber and Vincent D’Onofrio.
Caught Stealing premieres in theaters on August 29th.
We don’t spend a lot of time talking about animation projects around here. But we do spend a lot of time talking about The Predator Cinematic Universe (did I invent that phrase?) The animated entry in that franchise, Predator: Killer of Killers, is this week’s lagniappe. Check it out on Hulu beginning June 6th.
