Being the self-proclaimed Queen of Network Television, I still get excited for a new TV season in September. Never mind that network shows are mostly just cop/first responder/medical dramas, or that there are new episodes of new shows streaming all summer, and that we all comfort-watch repeats of our favorite shows all year long, I still low-key miss Must Watch TV.

High Potential returns to ABC later this month. I am begging the showrunners not to let this funny, smart, female-led procedural get bogged down in its own mythos yet. Kaitlin Olson, Daniel Sunjata, Deniz Akdeniz, Javicia Leslie, and Amirah J are all returning, along with Judy Reyes, who will be pulling double duty here and on the Scrubs reboot.

After last season’s teaser, it looks like Grimm’s David Giuntoli will be this season’s Big Bad, and Steve Howey (Reba, Shameless) has been cast as the precinct’s new captain.

That mustache is a little much, Steve.

High Potential premieres on September 16th on ABC and Hulu.

Only Murders In The Building is also back for another season this month. Our favorite nosy neighbors are up against the mafia and some of New York’s most elite this season. Get ‘em, Brazzos!

Along with the returning main cast, Bobby Cannavale, Téa Leoni, Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, and Beanie Feldstein are all potential suspects this season.

Keegan-Michael Key as the Mayor of New York, Dianne Wiest, and Jermaine Fowler will also be featured when the season starts streaming on Hulu on September 9th.

I’m not fully on board the Glen Powell train, and I don’t know if Chad Powers is going to change my mind. But it does look like a series I can convince my husband to watch with me.

Chad Powers also stars Steve Zahn, Perry Mattfeld (Long Bright River), Wynn Everett, Clayne Crawford (Lethal Weapon), Quentin Plair (Welcome to Chippendales), Xavier Mills (Forever), and Frankie A. Rodriguez.

It begins streaming on Hulu on September 30th.

Keeping with the theme, this week’s lagniappe is a series that is the most-watched Japanese Netflix title by worldwide audiences. I’ve never seen Alice In Borderland, but I hear
it’s a fantastic, modern interpretation of the Lewis Carroll story. I have no idea what’s going on here, but it looks bananas in a very good way.
