Crime 101 is not quite The Thomas Crown Affair. But it is sexy. I appreciate that all of these superheroes got together to make a grown-up movie for us. OK, Ruffalo makes a lot of grown-up movies, but they’re usually depressing. This one looks fun.
Adapted from a Don Winslow novella, Crime 101 stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nick Nolte.
Crime 101 will open in theaters on February 13th. It does look like a good date-night movie.
All That We Love premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. It’s an empty-nester dramady starring Margaret Cho, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kenneth Choi (9-1-1), Alice Lee (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), and Atsuko Okatsuka. That’s a lot of very funny people in a movie that is probably going to make us cry.
All That We Love is in theaters beginning November 7th.
While I love everything about the cast of Stone Cold Fox, I don’t love much about the script based on this trailer. It’s supposedly set in the ’80s. But it feels like a ’70s Blaxploitation flick that forgot to cast Black people.
Kiernan Shipka is good, Krysten Ritter is really good, and Kiefer Sutherland playing a crooked cop is always good. Jamie Chung and Michael Sebastian? Sure, they seem good too. But still. I don’t know.
Stone Cold Fox premieres in select theaters on November 7th.
Once again, I feel like I should have led with the lagniappe this week. Because this weird little documentary about the Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Championships seems really charming and sweet. And we need more of these stories these days.
