I suppose if Daniel Day-Lewis was going to come out of retirement for anyone, it would be his son, right? Six years after he left acting, Day-Lewis is starring in a movie he co-wrote with his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who is making his directing debut with Anemone.
Sean Bean and Samantha Morton will also star in Anemone. It doesn’t look like the kind of movie where Bean will die, but who knows. You can’t predict a Day-Lewis.
Anemone premieres in theaters on October 3rd.
Whoever asked for jacked Orlando Bloom, your order is ready.
The Cut is about a boxer (Bloom) obsessed with cutting weight (the practice of rapid, intentional weight loss, often done by athletes to meet weight class limits) in preparation for a fight. Unironically, Bloom cut 30 lbs in three months for the role. Don’t try that at home, kids.
The Cut also stars Caitríona Balfe (Outlander) and John Turturro, channeling J.K. Simmons’ Whiplash character.
It opens in theaters on September 5
Bang Bang makes three movies about punching people coming out this fall (The Smashing Machine is the other one). But this one has all of my attention because of Tim Blake Nelson.
Glenn Plummer (Showgirls), Andrew Liner (Ransom Canyon), and Kevin Corrigan (Deli Boys) also star in Bang Bang.
It opens in theaters on September 12th.
This week’s lagniappe may have originated an entirely new genre, Bathroom Humor Horror. You’re welcome.
