'The Toxic Avenger' Revives Moviefone

Before the internet destroyed everything, Moviefone was an automated phone service you would call to find out movie showtimes near you. It was great. Moviefone hasn’t been relevant since the 1995 season seven episode of Seinfeld when Kramer got himself assigned to the Moviefone number for NYC.

Moviefone has been resurrected in 2025 as part of the PR push for the new Toxic Avenger movie, set to premiere in theaters later this month. You can call 1-802-377-FILM and hear Peter Dinklage speak the iconic “Welcome to Moviefone” greeting as his character in the movie, janitor Winston Gooze.

Don’t expect him to give you local showtimes for anything but The Toxic Avenger, though. He also performs reenactments of the movie’s trailer and gets a little Toxie with you.

This is the fun, throwback-y nonsense we need in the world this summer. And hey, now that we’re all on data plans, no one’s parents can get mad at them for racking up the phone bill with Moviefone charges!

The Toxic Avenger will be in theaters beginning on August 29th.
