For this tribute to the great talent the world just lost, my list will include Bowie-performed and covers of his songs. The vast number of Bowie songs used in popular culture is a testament to the genius of the man and to the love of his music.
“Golden Years” in A Knight’s Tale (2001)
“Heroes” in The Perks of Being Wallflowers (2012)
“Cat People (Putting Out Fires)” in Inglorious Bastards (2009)
“Moonage Daydream” in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
I couldn’t find the scene, but please enjoy this.
“As The World Falls Down” in Labyrinth (1986)
“Under Pressure” in Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)
“Queen Bitch” in The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou [and various songs in Portuguese throughout] (2004)
“Space Oddity” in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
And in Mad Men
“I’m Deranged” in Lost Highway (1997)
“Heart’s Filthy Lesson” in Seven (1997)
“Magic Dance” in Labyrinth (1986)
This isn’t a song, but I always loved Bowie’s performance in The Prestige:
