First and foremost, you should probably go watch Full Frontal’s first and only hit piece on Obama. No matter how good Bee is as a host, she’s always better as an interviewer. Secondly, Jeff Sessions is garbage.
I know we’re in an age where we need to reach across the aisle, and not dismiss people out of hand for their beliefs and possible disagreements with us. So I need this to be clear: I’m not saying Jeff Sessions is garbage because I disagree with him and his beliefs. I’m saying he’s garbage because I’ve heard him talk about his beliefs.
Holy sweet molasses, Jeff, what are you doing?
There have been a few strategies on how liberals, independents, and non-insane Republicans should react to Trump’s cabinet nominations. Some say we should target the worst nominees, and flood our Senators with calls opposing them. Others have said we should judge each candidate individually, and decide if they warrant a protest call based on their lack of qualifications (Dr. Ben Carson) or their lack of human decency (Rex Tillerson). The third option is full court press. Call every day about every nominee. Call your Senators. Call members of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Just tell every single person you can about how bad these nominees are. I’m torn between the first two options, and more often feel like doing the third. The important thing is to do something. Doing any of the above is better than doing nothing. Doing nothing allows people like Sessions, people who refuse to see the humanity in gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender people, and who believe that Black people and women don’t deserve the same treatment as white men, to take their office with no resistance. And while Sessions might still end up becoming the Attorney General, we need that son of a bitch know we don’t want him.
Then again, what do I know? I’m just a godless heathen.
