I know that everyone, but especially politicians, lie. I know that our current, much-beloved-by-me President has lied to the American public before. But there is a difference between putting a positive spin on something not great or downplaying something really not great, and gas-lighting the entire nation. So no one run off into the comments to tell me that Trump lying to the public is the same as everyone else lying because that, in and of itself, is a form of the lying the Trump has perfected. And it’s total bullshit.
Donald Trump, President Elect of the United States of America, conned thousands of people out of millions of dollars. That’s the story. When he couldn’t bury it on a slow news Friday night, he tried to outright lie about what the settlement meant.
I settled the Trump University lawsuit for a small fraction of the potential award because as President I have to focus on our country.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 19, 2016
Settling a “lawsuit for a small fraction of the potential award” isn’t something that only the savviest of business-people do. It’s literally what settling a lawsuit entails. Trump didn’t win this. And when he realized that the media wasn’t buying his version of “Brilliant CEO Gets One Over On Sad Losers By Only Giving Them 62.5% Of The Lost Amount”, he tried to turn a nothing incident into a BFD.
Hamilton is great. Hamilton-Feud is nothing. Don’t let the liar distract you from the real story.
