Watch the Trailer for 'Ferrari,' Michael Mann's First Feature in 8 Years

Michael Mann does not mess around when he makes a movie. Heat, Collateral, The Last of the Mohicans, and Thief (just to name a few of his titles) are epic masterpieces of cinema. They involve intricate, engaging plots with mindblowing casts. And Ferrari looks to be no different. Behind the spectacle of car racing is the story about determination in the face of personal and financial crises that led up to the 1957 Mille Miglia race across Italy.

Written by Troy Kennedy Martin, who wrote the screenplay for the original version of The Italian Job in 1969, Ferrari stars Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari, Penélope Cruz as his wife Laura, Shailene Woodley as Lina Lardi his mistress, Jack O’Connell as driver Peter Collins, and Patrick Dempsey as Ferrari rival Piero Taruffi.

Ferrari will premiere at the at the 80th Venice International Film Festival in September. It’s set to close the 61st annual New York Film Festival in October before opening in theaters at Christmas.
