Mothers and sons are complicated. We expect so much from you, but don’t want to make you feel bad when you let us down. We believe you hung the moon, but don’t think you’re capable of hanging up your clothes. And we are always, always, rooting for you, even when we don’t appear to be, maybe even when we shouldn’t.

In God’s Creatures, coming to theaters on September 30th, first-time film directors Anna Rose Holmer and Saela Davis bring us first-time writers Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly and Shane Crowley’s story.

In a windswept fishing village, a mother is torn between protecting her beloved son and her own sense of right and wrong. A lie she tells for him rips apart their family and close-knit community in this tense, sweepingly emotional epic.

Gabrielle Union is the imperfect mother in The Inspection. And Jeremy Pope (One Night In Miami, Pose) stars as Ellis French, a character based on writer/director Elegance Bratton’s life.

…a young, gay Black man, rejected by his mother and with few options for his future, decides to join the Marines, doing whatever it takes to succeed in a system that would cast him aside. But even as he battles deep-seated prejudice and the grueling routines of basic training, he finds unexpected camaraderie, strength, and support in this new community, giving him a hard-earned sense of belonging that will shape his identity and forever change his life.

The Inspection opens only in theaters on November 18th.
